Champions of Nigeria professional football League, Akwa United football club of Uyo today recover from their shocking 3-0 defeat against Plateau United with a convincing 2 - 0 victory against Wikki Tourist at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium.
Akwa United played the entire first half without scoring despite having various goal bound opportunities.
After the break, Wikki Tourist conceded two quick goals as Akwa United substitute Adam Yakubu created an instant impact with a volley beyond the the visitor's goal keeper to give Akwa United the lead in the 49 minute.
The promise keepers double the lead immediately with Leo Ezekiel effort going over Galadima Mohammed in the 50th minute.
With the result, Akwa United now has 26 points from 16 matches and placed 4th on the log
Akwa United will next face Abia Warriors this weekend at the Okigwe township stadium in match day seventeen of the Nigeria professional football League 2021/ 2022 season.
