Cameroon, Nigeria Records First Death From Coronavirus

Two countries, one each in West Africa and Central Africa are the latest to record death of individuals from the ravaging global novel dreaded coronavirus.

Former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward, Patrick Ndem Mboma took to his Twitter handle this morning to announce the death of his uncle Achille Essome Moukouri who died in Bonapriso in the Littoral region of Cameroon after suffering from CoronaVirus infection.

With the above, the central African region country is reacording her first death after the virus fine its way into Cameroon.

Also in, early this morning,  Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the deathof one of the patients in her in its update on the virus.

The victim, Suleiman Achumugu, former managing director of  Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), died at 2am on Monday morning

The only deceased in Nigeria is an indigene of Kogi state who is said to have returned from the United Kingdom two weeks ago from a health treatment.

Our correspondent learned that he started exhibiting the symptoms of the virus on Tuesday and the case was reported to the NCDC who took his blood specimen for a test which the result was positive and was taken to the specialist hospital, Gwagwalada in Abuja but died while receiving treatment.

According to his family members they are under quarantine at their home to avoid further spread of the virus.
Update s indicate that in Nigeria, Lasos state is leading with 24 cases, followed by the federal capital territory with six,Ogun- 2,Ekiti- 1, Oyo- 1, Edo- 1

Experts says corona is a large virus with the diameter of the virus being 400-500 micro, so that any type of mask can prevent entry into our bodies and does not need to use expensive masks.

CORONAVIRUS : FG Postpones National Sports Festival

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged “Edo 2020” as a precautionary move against coronavirus  (COVID-19) spread.

The postponement of the NSF was confirmed by the minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare on his official twitter handle on Tuesday.

The 20th edition of the NSF was earlier scheduled to take centre stage from 22nd March to 1st April 2020 in Benin city, capital of Edo state.

The federal government through the ministry of youth and sports development and the Edo state government are expected to announce a new date for the game soon.
