2023 GUBER: PDP DELEGATES REJECTS UMO ENO, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION BOOED

By Daniel Archibong

Delegates from Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Senatorial District that gathered at Ibom hall , Uyo venue of the meeting organised at the instance of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) on Thursday 3rd March, 2022 to endorse Pastor Umo Eno, an aspirant in the 2023 governorship election booed Mr Assam Assam, DG of Umo Eno campaign organisation who mistakenly addressed Eno as candidate and had to quickly retract  with the word aspirant in order to calm the rowdy meeting session.

The meeting was tension filled as the delegates practically booed Prince Enobong Uwah, an indigene of Uyo LGA and Secretary of Maintain Peace Movement, for his role at desiring to get the delegates to adopt Umo Eno against their wish despite having other aspirants of PDP ahead of the party Governorship prinaries.

When Pastor Umo Eno, the centre of the controversy had to speak , he pleaded for calm in the midst of the brouhaha this way ''I'm only an aspirant and there are other aspirants, l am only coming to you to consider me in your ultimate decision when you will have to vote during the forthcoming primaries, you know without you there can't be a Candidate after the primaries for the party. Each of you will leave here with N50,000''.

There were security personnel brought in to possibly harass those that held contrary views but were resisted by the aggrieved delegates who according to them are unhappy that PDP in Akwa Ibom has distorted the existing micro zoning to the office of the Governor and attempting to forcefully adopt an unpopular aspirant.

Some of the delegates, Mr Jeremiah Inyang and Mr lme Ikpong who confirmed the report noted that it is so sad to observe that so far huge of Akwa Ibom State resources are currently being largely deployed to the Gov Udom Emmanuel succession plan against other development efforts.

This however is contrary to earlier  propaganda circulated on social media that Umo Eno was adopted by delegates from Uyo senatorial District.
