The National Directorate and entire membership of Akwa Ibom APC Foundation heartily felicitate with the immediate-past governor of the state, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio (CON), on his well-deserved nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and subsequent successful confirmation by the Senate as Minister Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a press release signed by the group's director general, Dr. Effiong Etuk, and made available to journalists in Uyo, the body note thus "your Excellency, when on the 8th of August, 2018, at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, you joined our great party officially, the array of nationalistic leaders and politicians that graced that epochal occasion signalled that as a nationalist, you shall lead the APC in Akwa Ibom state into the national political realm and consciousness.
That event was rightly dubbed "uncommon defection", owing to Your Excellency's uncommonness in political sagacity, party politics and overall leadership. Your entrant into our party heralded a new direction; little wonder the APC became a toast of the misgoverned people of the state in the build up to the 2019 elections.
Notwithstanding the temporary setback occasioned by the worst form of electoral malpractices perpetrated by the Igini-led INEC in concert with the PDP government of Akwa Ibom state, our party's victory is sure.
We are confident that these broad day robberies in the name of elections shall be upturned as they are being vehemently challenged at the elections tribunals.
We must state here, Your Excellency, that your meritorious appointment is a further testimony that your sterling leadership qualities as well as selflessness which made you to relinquish your exalted position as the Senate Minority Leader in pursuit of collective national interest, have not gone unnoticed.
Again, this appointment has shamed the Fifth Columnists and your political adversaries who lately resorted to campaigns of calumny to portray you in bad light, having sensed that you have been penciled down for exaltation given your political pedigree.
Today, we dare say that they have all failed woefully.
While we appreciate Mr. President for finding you fit for this appointment, we have no doubt in our minds that you shall bring to bear your vast wealth of experience that would assist in propelling the APC-led administration to the much desired Next Level of economic prosperity and political stability.
