The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has promised a level playing ground for all Football Stakeholders in Akwa Ibom.
The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Samuel Umoh, made the promise while addressing over eighty football academy owners, football clubs owners and football stakeholders at the Uyo township stadium on Monday.
This, the Football Association Chairman explained that the effort will re-engineer participation of more teams in the President Federation Cup in the state and as well as, the soon to be re-introduced Akwa Ibom State Football League inline with board desire to develope football from the grassroots.
While assuring the stakeholders of the boards commitment of working with all stakeholders to make Akwa Ibom a destination for discovering of football talents, Umoh further hinted that a training programme for football clubs, coaches and referees will hold next month
On their parts, stakeholders applauded the Chairman of Football Association in the state, Mr. Samuel Umoh for uniting football stakeholders through the meeting and expressed optimism that with the board starting on the right footing, the state will return to be the football talent hub of the country again.
"We are happy with the steps you have taken so far since you assumed office as the chairman of football association in Akwa Ibom State. We believe that with this, we can together work for the development of football in Akwa Ibom State ".
Top amongst the stakeholders were; the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Bassey, Chairman; Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Comrade Aniefiok Ekarika, Chairman, Nigeria Football Referees Association, Elder Joseph Bassey, Chairman, Nigeria Football Players' Union, Comrade Maurice Silas, the Managing Director of Flying Sports Academy, Mr. Marshall Mbre, President, Grassroots Sports Federation of Nigeria, Comrade John Ekpenyoung,Some of the 31 Local Football Council Executives, representatives of over eighty football academies and clubs in Akwa Ibom State amongst others.
Meanwhile the association has unveiled the official portrait of the chairman, Mr. Samuel umoh to be use in official communication channels as well as offices.
This is coming just a week after the association unveiled a portrait in honour of the late former chairman of the association Mr. Emmanuel Ibah.
