Anthony Joshua Outclassed Andy Ruiz To reclaim Titles
ANTHONY JOSHUA produced a boxing masterclass to regain his position as heavyweight king in front of the Saudi Sheikh's.
The 6ft 6in London ace snatched back the unified belts from his conquer Andy Ruiz Jr in the brand new Diriyah Arena with a unanimous verdict on the cards.
Joshua, having learned from the mistakes that haunted him in New York last June, boxed expertly at range ramming his jab into Ruiz's face.
AJ landed a string of heavy right hands throughout, but at close quarters was reminded of his rival's devastating power which caused him to hold on.
By the 12-round mark a frustrated Ruiz pleaded with Joshua to throw caution to the wind - but the Brit was too cleaver and disciplined as he rode out the final three minutes.
After the unanimous decision was announced, confetti reigned down and emotional celebrations with Joshua's team, family and promoter followed.
Joshua said: “A man like me doesn't make any excuses. This is about boxing – I'm used to knocking guys out.
“I realised last time, I hurt him. But I got caught. I respect Andy and his family, his trainer so much. I wanted to put on a boxing masterclass.
“It's about hitting and not getting hit. It's not a chance of mentality – stay hungry, stay humble. Thank you Andy, thank you everyone in Saudi Arabia and all the travelling fans.”
“It's all about preparations. Careers are all about experience, I took my L and moved on. What did you want me to do? Give up?

Why Sowore Was Rearested By DSS Today
Fayemi Falana, counsel to Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement, has disclosed why his client was re-arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.
Falana revealed that the DSS said they were inviting Sowore and his co-accused, Olawale Bakare for questioning at their office on fresh charges.
He, however, stated that the secret police was yet to disclose what the charges are.
The Senior lawyer made the disclosure to Channels Television while condemning DSS’ invasion of an Abuja courtroom, where they chased away lawyers before re-arresting Sowore.
According to Falana: “The atmosphere was very rowdy, but I insisted that the arrest could not be carried out within the precinct of the court. He was going to be arrested outside the premises but there was a crowd that resisted the arrest, but I appealed to everybody and asked Sowore to jump into my car and so we drove to the office of the SSS because they said he will just answer a few questions, but now he is being detained.
“We are going to take steps under the law by asking for his release again since they are claiming this is a fresh arrest.
“Nobody has disclosed yet what his charges are; he couldn’t have committed any other offence because he has been detained for the past four months unless the SSS wants to tell the whole world that he committed this fresh offence while in their custody"

Coach Obuh's team has dropped four points from two successive home games against Katsina United and Nasarawa United and they are yet to record a win this season. But the tactician believes that "it's time for a turn around".
"Sincerely speaking, we are not comfortable with our position on the log, four draws from five games is not encouraging. What we are passing through at the moment is just a phase and I believe it's time for us to turn things around.
"It is encouraging to see that the NPFL is fast developing and we are motivated by the fact that teams are winning games away from home and we believe that ours will come this weekend" said Coach Obuh.
The Promise Keepers have scored three goals and conceded five in their opening five matches and they are 14th on the log. They will be expecting their first win of the season against Sunshine Stars who are placed 12th on the log with 5 points.
According to Coach Obuh, "the season is still very young and it will be a long campaign. The good news is that we have been able to identify our weak points and we will continue to work hard to ensure we get it right".
A team of 18 players including one-time league top scorer Akarandut Orok, former NPFL winner Itodo Akor and former U17 goalkeeper Bassey Akpan as well as some key officials of the club are on the trip to Akure for the crucial game.

Maiden Akwa Ibom Cultural Festival To Hold November 23 In Abuja
By Peter Saturday
Acording to Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary, Culture is defined as “the customs and beliefs, art, way of life and organization of a particular country, group or a people”.
This means that any organized society, State, community or a group of people traceable to their ancestral origin have a “culture” that distinguishes them from others. The assertion above gives credence to the fact that Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja also known as “Mboho Akwa Ibom - Abuja” has a culture traceable to the Akwa Ibom State/people as well as our unique tribes linked to our ancestries. The three major ethic groups in Akwa Ibom State that form the tripod are: the Ibibio, Annang and Oro. We also have the Ekid and a couple of other ethic nationalities with their unique cultures all living in a "United State of Akwa Ibom".
Significantly, town union in contemporary times has became a critical instrument in building bridges of brotherliness, fostering unity and advancing interests among natives living in foreign lands. Across ethnic nationalities, this unit has also positioned itself as a formidable tool in promoting development at the grassroot and bridging the information gap between or among the home-based folks.
It is on this premise that Akwa Ibom community in Abuja under the visionary and goal-oriented leadership of Barr. Aniefiok Ibah decides to bring together all sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom state residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and indeed the 19 Northern states to converge on Abuja for the Cultural Fiesta scheduled for Saturday, 23rd November 2019 at the expansive Jabi Lake.
Remarkably, this is the first of its kind since creation of this Community in 1988, just a year after the birth of Akwa Ibom state under Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida regime.
Our uniqueness as people of the Land of Promise is exemplified in our way of life. Our culture is our identity. It is our pride and common heritage. It defines who we are and distinguished us from the other race in the world. Like Stephen R. Covey noted, strength lies in differences, not in similarities. Our strength lies on the riches encoded in our delicacies manifestly represented in our indigenous delicacies including: ekpang nkukwo, afere edikang ikong, affang, editan, ataama ye fufu or garri, anyand ekpang, edita iwa, affia efere ye usung ikpong, utuk mboro and others too numerous to mention. Our strength is exhibited in the mode of dressing that makes us the real Akwa Ibom people of this world. Our language, mode of greeting, farming methods, marriage rites, banking system, judicial system, traditional rulership/stool, ballad, folklores, festivals, music, our naming systems, performance, literature, myths, norms, religious/political/economic/educational/cultural/belief systems and many others distinctively define us.
This fiesta with the theme “Celebrating The Culture That Unites Us” under the Chairmanship of Barr Ekpo Nta (Former ICPC Chairman) will among other things showcase our irresistible cultural dance, parade, carnival floats, food exhibition/testing, unveiling of Akwa Ibom cultural symbol, folklores among others. Some of our Illustrious sons, daughters, in-laws and friends of Akwa Ibom State within and outside Abuja who have distinguished themselves through their professions will be celebrated and presented with Awards of Excellence. It will also be a rally point to strengthen the bond of unity, friendship and oneness that bind us. Beyond that, this fiesta will be a reunion of some sort to old time friends who have for long had a warmth embrace.
This is coming at a time when the campaign for the promotion of indigenous culture has more than ever been amplified, even as our identity as a people is seriously grasping for breath under the overwhelming suffocation of Western culture.
Today, it is more fashionable to consume foods from foreign countries, canned, bottled or garnished with preservatives with its health implications than to eat our indigenous and highly nutritious foods the nature has graciously blessed us with. It is significant to note that our fore fathers lived longer with little or no western medical attention because they survived on our indigenous foods, green leaves, locally made drinks and alternative medicine which it efficacy is still available to those who patronizes it. Unfortunately, some of Our people finds fulfillment in identifying with foreign dress codes than our unique ways of expressing ourselves through our cultural dressing. It is seen as a symbol of high intellectual pedigree when our children communicate with foreign languages right in our homes while our unique Akwa Ibom language suffers undue relegation. Its amount to cultural betrayal to see our parents giving their children and wards English or foreign names at the detriment of our traditional names that could convey same or best meanings. It is unpatriotic to see children who cannot mention the names of their grand parents or lack knowledge of their ancestry perhaps not taught by their parents. Nowadays, It is common that majority of our brothers/sisters or leaders in public offices undermine the efficacious prowess of our mother tongue in an attempt to exchange salutations or pleasantries; “ Ette or Mma amesiere” in our indigenous language and what you get as reply is “good morning too or how may I help you?” all in English language. There are many versions and circumstances of such scenario.
These are all glaring indices that we owe ourselves a duty of not only encouraging communication in indigenous language(s) at our various homes and family gatherings, but imparting the knowledge of our culture and tradition on younger generations.
The concomitant effect of abdicating this responsibility places our civilization at the pedestal of extinction. According to Wikipedia, about 50 and 90 percent of 7000 languages currently spoken across the world will become extinct by the year 2100. Interestingly, Nigeria, India, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Indonesia, Guinea and Cameroon rank among the eight countries incubating languages likely to suffer a devastating death in no distant future. This cannot be extricated from the imperialistic stifling of our heritage language, aided by the declining choice of our people to retain their indigenous language as their first language and other anti cultural practices.
Obviously, the theme of this maiden fiesta is not only apt but timely. It will be a wakeup call to all other ethnic divides across our country Nigeria and beyond for an arisen consciousness to explore all avenues to put their culture and tradition at the front burner in their daily dialogue. This can be a recipe to the insecurity ravaging some states in Nigeria and beyond. The power to tell our own story is domiciled in our tongue. Leaving our story untold is a recipe for distortion, half truth, neocolonialism, propaganda and outright lies. With the power of culture, we can tell our story. Shannon L. Alder said, “One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself”. Equally, a 20th Century phenomenon - James Aggrey warned “ whoever is not proud of his colour is not fit to live”. We must not resign to superfluous opinions to tell the story of the good people of Akwa Ibom anywhere in the globe.
Undeniably, Akwa Ibom people are known for industriousness, creativity, can-do spirit, humility, patience, ambitiousness, penchant for excellence and abiding faith in God to take them to their land of promise to fulfillment. We have consistently been at the vanguard of making meaningful contributions to the socio-economic development of our great country, Nigeria. As the highest crude oil producing state in Nigeria, Akwa Ibom has for long witnessed unprecedented calm and peace even at the heat of hostility of militancy in the Niger Delta region. In academia, entertainment, sports, politics, tourism and indeed all areas of human endeavour, our dear state has remained a leading light. This accounts to why this fiesta has presented us a veritable platform to honour few of these illustrious sons and daughters with Awards of Excellence who have raised the flag high in their various fields of calling.
Undoubtedly, our hospitality, shoulder of love and friendship are some of the unique attributes that make us an outstanding people. Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja under the leadership of Barr. Aniefiok Ibah has remained resolute in this spirit by ensuring that the welfare of members remains paramount in its agenda. This is not unconnected to the support his administration has received from the Board of Trustees, Stakeholders and all members of the Community. The founding members of the Community deserves commendations for their foresight and ingenuity. Through our network of friends within and outside the fold, we have linked members to employment opportunities and contract awards in a bid to deliver in our core objective.
Through lobbying and advocacy to advance public and government policies, Akwa Ibom community in Abuja has also secured an appreciable representation at key government agencies at state and federal level. Without any iota of doubt, the upcoming fiesta which will have in attendance the Executive Governor of our dear State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the Special Guest of Honour, the FCT Minister - Muhammed Musa Bello as Co-host and members of the National Assembly within and outside Akwa Ibom State will be a fertile ground for us to intimate the world of the numerous achievements we have recorded over the years, our limitations and strategies being put in place to surmount them. Members of the public are hereby invited to join us at the fiesta.
Top in the Community’s agenda is the completion of the 9 storey Ibom Bowl House at the Jahi District of Abuja, for which building plan has been approved by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in readiness for the commencement of construction work by the contractors in expectation of other interested investors. This is in addition to other lofty ideas Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja is currently piloting.
The litany of success we have accomplished wouldn’t have been possible without the co-operation and active participation of members who have continually availed us their unalloyed support. The opportunity of this fiesta is indeed a new dawn for all Akwa Ibom sons and daughters all over the world to raise their heads high with pride for the privilege of telling our story by ourselves.
Consequently, Parents, guardians, religious houses/leaders, Government, development partners, Leaders of thought, Other Community development Associations, Cultural Groups/Commissions, Diaspora Affairs Commission, Embassies, National Assembly and all critical stakeholders in the information, Cultural and attitudinal Re-orientation/preservation Advocacy Groups is admonished to wake up to this challenge and re-strategize on their mandates with regards to cultural preservation even as we collectively commit and thinker avenues of celebrating the culture that unites us.

Acording to Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary, Culture is defined as “the customs and beliefs, art, way of life and organization of a particular country, group or a people”.

AKHA Legislator says 97percent of Roads constructed by gov Emmanuel has failed
By Ekemini Simon A member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriations have queried the Works Commissioner in the state, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-Eyen for poorly constructed roads.
Members of the committee frowned at the rapid failing of newly completed roads by the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration, saying such poor quality of work was unacceptable.
The lawmakers observed that although huge amount of money have been released for road construction, most of the roads constructed may not outlive the administration.
Making an observation, the member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency who serves as Chairman Judiciary, Justice, Public Petition and Human Rights, Hon Victor Ekwere, noted with displeasure the dilapidation of Awa-Ukam road and Ikot Edehge road in Mkpat Enin less than six months after its completion.
“I have taken a case study of nine Local Government Areas. So far, out of the 57 roads constructed by this administration, about 97 per cent have failed according to statistics. Maybe because they were made to be trunk A roads but now turned to trunk C .
“The Awa -Ukam road was Commissioned barely two months on May 29th 2019 but it is now a total mess. I have been receiving calls and I have gone to check the road myself. It is a real mess.”
The member representing Nsit Atai State constituency, Rt Hon Mark Esset collaborated the observation raised by the vocal member of Mkpat Enin State Constituency.
He noted that the dilapidated condition of newly constructed roads in the State have been of great concern to the 7th Assembly especially as the Member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Hon Victor Ekwere had wanted to bring the issue to the fore through Matter of Urgent Public Importance but was held back by the leadership of the house.
Esset, while corroborating the observation, said the situation was very pathetic, noting that the bus the committee used during inspection in the area broke down in one of the dilapidated spots on the road.
He drew the attention of the Commissioner to another dilapidated portion of a newly constructed road along Nto- Edino Road in Obot Akara.
Esset maintained that since it is a road that leads to other States, it should not have been constructed as a trunk C road, not trunk A.
He observed that when the House Committee embarked on inspection recently, it discovered that the newly constructed bridge in Obot Akara had some defects.
The lawmaker also noted the poor condition of Nsit Atai -Oron Road, and sought explanation why inexperienced construction firms are contracted to carry out road construction.
He noted that it was unbelievable and annoying that not less than a billion naira was paid to the first construction firm contracted for the road with subsequent contractors paid, yet nothing to show for.
“You brought inexperienced construction companies for the Nsit Atai road. The road instead of improving is getting worse. This is unacceptable! Tell those construction companies to leave Nsit Atai road.”
While advising the Commissioner not to rely only on reports from staff of the Ministry, Esset noted that the best approach to salvage the situation would be for the Commissioner to undertake unscheduled visits to construction sites.
He added “Whatever we are putting on ground should not be between 2015 to 2023. It should be beyond. It should stand the test of time. In Akwa Ibom, we are not only planning for today, we are planning for the future.”
Esset noted that if nothing is done by January to change the narrative of the dilapidated newly constructed roads, they will summon the Commissioner, Ephraim Inyang during plenary to answer questions.
He said ” You will not sit in Executive session to address us. You will be standing on the floor of the House to answer questions. The money Akwa Ibom State Government put on roads, we must receive the value. we can’t take substandard projects in Akwa Ibom State.”
While observing that so many road projects have been embarked upon yet left behind, the Chairman of the Committee, Rt Hon Uduak Odudoh advised the Ministry to remain focused on completing ongoing projects instead of embarking on new ones so that no road will be left abandoned by the current administration.
Responding, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen admitted that the Ministry had to work at night to patch the Awa-Ukam road during the visit of the Vice President to the State.
He explained that the dilapidated condition of the road is not unconnected to the the fact that the road was constructed intermittently.
While admitting responsibility, he noted that the contractor has promised to resurface and re-asphalt the road when the rainfall abate.
On Nsit Atai road, Inyang-eyen noted that out of N1 billion paid Renaissance Construction Company, the State Government had recovered N700 million.
He said ” Government will not lose money on that road. No contractor will leave this State with Akwa Ibom money”.

Super Eagles Fails To Qualify For 2020 Olympic
Defending champions of the African under 23 championship, Nigeria were this evening kicked out of the Total Africa Cup of Nations playing out a goalless against South Africa at Al Salam Stadium on Friday night.
In the other group game, Cote d’Ivoire pipped Zambia 1-0 to finish top of the log with six points. South Africa picked five points, Nigeria four points and Zambia one point.
Olympic Eagles manager Imama Amapakabo kept faith with the same XI that defeated Zambia 3-1 on Tuesday.
South Africa coach David Notoane made three changes to the side that edged Ivory Coast 1-0 on Tuesday, with Thabiso Monyane, Siyabonga Ngezana and Athenkosi Dlala earning starts at the expense of Sipho Mbule, Grant Margeman and Kegan Johannes.
Winger Ibrahim Sunusi missed from close range as Nigeria pressed for the curtain raiser.
After a quiet start, the South Afrians carved their first opening in the 28th minute after Kamohelo Mahlatsi unleashed a curling effort that was parried away by goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar.
Teboho Mokwena came close to breaking the deadlock three minutes before the break with a strike from outside the box that rattled the woodwork.
Nigeria were going hard on tackles early in the second stanza and South Africa had a casualty seven minutes into the second stanza after Lyle Foster was replaced by Keletso Makgalwa.
Makgalwa had a glorious chance to break the deadlock for the South Africans side with 20 minutes remaining after Luther Singh cushioned a cross into his path, but the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder guided his header wide.
As time marched on, Notoane’s had another chance to snatch a late winner in the last four minutes after Makgalwa threaded a through ball that found Singh but the Portugal-based striker missed by a whisker.
Nigeria almost won the game at injury time. Unmarked Sunday Faleye missed from six yards as his poor header went off target.
In the end, South Africa held on to a get a decisive point that saw them qualify for the semi-finals as the second best team in Group B and sets up a semi-final clash with Egypt on Tuesday.

Opening clubs houses....making useless noise on social media and the other one was teaching people how to do masturbation dance. The female ones would be posting how their fake boyfriend's gave them range rover on their birthday and how they had a birthday bash of 20 million.
Peter okoye who cannot point to one project in his home community said he would give Tacha 60 million naira if she didn't win BBN....And we think there is nothing wrong with our brains in this country? Davido keep buying wrist worth 70millon Davido went to tell Osun people to vote for his Uncle when he hasn't even drilled one bore hole in Osun state despite having "30 billion for the account ".
Iyanya graduated from the Univeristy of Calabar whilst he was in MTN project fame I know how Unical students mobilized to have him win the show but since he became a star has he donated even one class room chair to Unical?
Those are the people we glorify in Nigeria Bunch of disgrace. Kudos to the few who try with their widow's mite. People make you a celebrity,it's only normal that you give back to the society that made you.
